    Taiwan Arrival Guide for Filipinos

Taiwan is one of the countries I keep returning to. I’ve now visited Taiwan five times, and every trip has become easier because I already know what to prepare before leaving the Philippines and what to do immediately after landing.

This arrival guide is based on my actual experience during my last Taiwan trip in December 2025. For this visit, I flew from Clark International Airport to Taiwan via Starlux Airlines and followed the exact steps outlined in this guide—from completing my eTravel registration before departure to taking the Airport MRT into Taipei after landing.

If it’s your first time visiting Taiwan, this post will walk you through exactly what I personally do before departure and after arriving at Taoyuan Airport.

Good News: Taiwan is Visa-Free for Filipinos

One reason Taiwan remains one of the easiest destinations for Filipino travelers is its visa-free entry program.

Filipino passport holders can currently enter Taiwan visa-free for tourism for up to 14 days.

Even though a visa is not required, you should still prepare the following:

✔️ Passport with at least 6 months validity

    ✔️ Return or onward ticket

    ✔️ Hotel booking confirmation

    ✔️ Taiwan Arrival Card

    ✔️ eTravel Registration

✔️ Proof of sufficient funds (rarely requested but good to have)

I always save screenshots of these documents in a dedicated album on my phone before every trip.

🎥 Watch My Taiwan Arrival Guide in Under 60 Seconds

If you’re short on time, you can watch my Taiwan Arrival Guide video before continuing with the detailed step-by-step guide below.

    Before Your Flight

Step 1: Complete Your eTravel Registration

Before leaving the Philippines, all departing passengers must complete their eTravel registration.

    Official Website:
    https://etravel.gov.ph

    Important reminders:

    ✔️ eTravel is FREE

✔️ Do not pay any third-party websites

✔️ I usually complete mine 24 to 72 hours before departure

✔️ Save a screenshot of your QR code

This is one of the first things I do after receiving my flight details.

Step 2: Complete the Taiwan Arrival Card

Taiwan requires arriving passengers to submit an Arrival Card.

    Official Website:
    https://niaspeedy.immigration.gov.tw/webacard/

    Important reminders:

✔️ The Taiwan Arrival Card is FREE

✔️ I usually complete it 1 to 3 days before departure

✔️ Save a screenshot after submission

✔️ Filling it out before arrival helps speed up immigration processing

I normally complete this together with my eTravel registration.

Step 3: Book Your Airport MRT Ticket

One thing I always book before flying is my Airport MRT ticket.

The Airport MRT is my preferred way of getting from Taoyuan Airport to Taipei because it’s affordable, reliable, and beginner-friendly.

    Benefits:

    ✔️ Avoid long taxi queues

    ✔️ Direct connection to Taipei

✔️ Easy to use even for first-time visitors

    Klook.com

    Step 4: Activate Your eSIM

I activate my eSIM one day before departure.

This way, I don’t need to spend time setting it up at the airport.

As soon as I land, I simply turn it on and start using Google Maps, Messenger, and Grab.

    Klook.com

Step 5: Don’t Bring Meat Products

This is one of the most important Taiwan travel rules.

Taiwan has strict regulations regarding meat products.

    Avoid bringing:

    ❌ Pork products

    ❌ Longganisa

    ❌ Tocino

    ❌ Ham

    ❌ Sausage

    ❌ Dried meat snacks

    Heavy fines may apply.

When packing, I always double-check my carry-on and checked luggage just to be safe.

    After Landing in Taiwan

    Step 6: Proceed to Immigration

After arriving, follow the signs to Immigration.

    Have these ready:

    ✔️ Passport

    ✔️ Hotel booking

    ✔️ Return ticket

    ✔️ Arrival Card information

    Step 7: Claim Your Luggage

After clearing Immigration, proceed to baggage claim.

Always check the monitor screens for your baggage carousel number.

Before leaving, verify your luggage tag.

Step 8: Turn On Your eSIM

Once I have my luggage, I immediately activate my eSIM.

The first things I check are:

    ✔️ Google Maps

    ✔️ Messenger

    ✔️ Facebook

    ✔️ Email

    ✔️ Banking apps

    Step 9: Withdraw Taiwan Dollars

I usually withdraw cash from Bank of Taiwan ATMs inside the airport.

    Cards I’ve personally used:

    ✔️ GoTyme

    ✔️ GCash Visa Card

Even though Taiwan is becoming increasingly cashless, cash is still useful at some night markets and small shops.

Step 10: Buy or Top Up Your EasyCard

The EasyCard is one of the most useful things you can have in Taiwan.

    You can use it for:

    ✔️ MRT

    ✔️ Buses

    ✔️ Convenience Stores

    ✔️ Selected attractions

I still use the same EasyCard from previous trips and simply top it up upon arrival.

Step 11: Take the Airport MRT

After completing everything at the airport, it’s finally time to head into Taipei.

The Airport MRT is clean, efficient, and beginner-friendly.

For first-time visitors, it’s one of the easiest ways to start your Taiwan adventure.

    My Taiwan Travel Essentials

    Taiwan eSIM

    Stay connected immediately after landing.

I personally use an eSIM when traveling because it’s more convenient than looking for a physical SIM card at the airport.

If you’d like to have internet access immediately after landing, you can check the eSIM options I personally recommend here:

    Klook eSIM

    Powered by GetYourGuide

    Airport MRT Ticket

Skip the lines and book in advance.

    Airport Transfers & Transportation

One thing I always arrange before flying is my airport transportation.

Whether you prefer the Airport MRT, private airport transfers, or day tours, you can check the same booking platforms I use during my trips:

    👉 Airport MRT Tickets

    👉 Airport Transfers

    👉 Taiwan Tours & Activities

    Where I Stay in Taipei

As a solo traveler, I always prioritize hotels near MRT stations because it makes getting around Taipei much easier.

I also love staying in Ximending because it’s convenient, lively, and packed with restaurants, shopping, and transportation options. Most of my Taiwan trips have been based in this area.

Here are some hotels I’ve personally stayed at:

    🏨 Tomorrow Hotel
A budget-friendly option located right in the heart of Ximending.

    🏨 Rainbow Hotel
One of the most convenient locations in Ximending and just a short walk from the MRT.

    🏨 Airline Inn Ximen
A modern hotel with comfortable rooms and excellent access to shopping and transportation.

    🏨 Hotel Puri
One of my favorite choices for solo travel thanks to its location near Ximen Station.

💡 Compare hotel prices before booking. I usually check multiple platforms because prices can vary depending on promotions and travel dates.

    Check rates here:

Bonus Travel Tips From My 5 Taiwan Trips

💡 Save your hotel address in Traditional Chinese.

    💡 Download Google Maps offline.

    💡 Bring a power bank.

💡 Keep at least NT$500–1,000 cash available.

💡 Check Airport MRT operating hours if arriving late at night.

💡 Take screenshots of hotel bookings and return flights.

💡 Download Google Translate before your trip.

💡 If staying in Ximending, use the Airport MRT + MRT combination instead of taking a taxi.

    Final Thoughts

After five visits to Taiwan, I’ve realized that arrival day becomes much easier when you prepare everything before your flight.

Completing your eTravel registration, Taiwan Arrival Card, transportation bookings, and eSIM setup ahead of time means less stress and more time enjoying your trip.

Taiwan remains one of the easiest destinations in Asia for Filipino travelers, and it’s a country I always look forward to visiting again.

  • Everything I Bought in Hong Kong 🇭🇰 Disney Merchandise, Outlet Finds & Souvenirs

Everything I Bought in Hong Kong 🇭🇰 Disney Merchandise, Outlet Finds & Souvenirs

“Some people collect stamps. I collect memories… and a few shopping bags along the way.”

My last trip to Hong Kong was in January 2026, and while the main purpose of the trip wasn’t shopping, I still came home with a suitcase full of goodies—from Disney merchandise and outlet finds to unique Hong Kong souvenirs.

If you’re planning a trip to Hong Kong, here’s a look at everything I bought, where I found them, and a few shopping tips based on my own experience.

🎥 Watch My Hong Kong Shopping Haul

    Quick Trip Information

    📍 Destination: Hong Kong

🏨 Hotel: Novotel Citygate Hong Kong

    🧳 Travel Style: Solo Travel

    🛍️ Main Shopping Stops:

    • Hong Kong Disneyland
    • Citygate Outlets
    • Causeway Bay

    Adidas Hong Kong Exclusive Shirts

One of my favorite purchases from this trip was a pair of Adidas Hong Kong exclusive shirts. I always enjoy bringing home something unique from each destination, and these shirts were a perfect souvenir that I can actually wear.

I also found an Adidas jacket at Citygate Outlets at a discounted price. Definitely one of my best outlet finds during the trip.

    Hong Kong Disneyland Merchandise

I can never visit Hong Kong Disneyland without bringing home a few Disney treasures.

This time, I added several LinaBell items to my collection. If you’ve visited Disney parks recently, you’ll know how popular this adorable pink fox has become.

    My purchases included:

    • LinaBell headband
    • LinaBell small bag
    • LinaBell shoulder plush
    • Other LinaBell accessories

I also noticed they have a wallet version of their tote bag which looked really cute.

    Don’t Skip the Sale Section

One of my biggest tips for Hong Kong Disneyland shoppers is to check the sale section before buying anything.

During my visit, some merchandise was discounted by almost 50% to 70% off.

    I managed to grab:

    • Bucket hats
    • Keychains
    • Minnie Mouse bag charm

The selection was limited, but the savings were definitely worth checking out.

    Important Disneyland Shopping Tip

Hong Kong Disneyland does not automatically provide plastic shopping bags with purchases.

If you don’t want to purchase their reusable tote bag (the cheapest one I saw was around HK$25), make sure to bring your own reusable shopping bag.

It’s a small thing, but it can save you money if you’re planning to buy lots of merchandise.

    Hong Kong Souvenir Shopping

One thing I love about Hong Kong is the huge variety of souvenirs available.

Of course, I couldn’t leave without buying magnets.

What surprised me was how creative the designs have become.

    Some of my favorites included:

    • Mahjong tile magnets
    • Light-up train sign magnets
    • Egg waffle magnets
    • Hong Kong-themed street sign magnets
    • Traditional Hong Kong landmark magnets

There were honestly so many designs to choose from that it was difficult to pick just a few.

If you’re looking for affordable souvenirs for friends and family, magnets remain one of the easiest items to pack and bring home.

    Powered by GetYourGuide

North Face Finds at Citygate Outlets

Just before checking out of my hotel, I made one final stop at Citygate Outlets and picked up a few North Face shirts.

If you’ve never visited Citygate Outlets, it’s one of my favorite shopping destinations in Hong Kong.

Most stores offer discounts year-round, and it’s not uncommon to find items marked down by 40% to almost 70% off.

    Popular brands include:

    • Adidas
    • Nike
    • The North Face
    • Coach
    • Kate Spade
    • Calvin Klein

    and many more.

Why I Love Staying at Novotel Citygate

One of the reasons I keep recommending Novotel Citygate Hong Kong is its location.

The hotel is directly connected to Citygate Outlets, making shopping incredibly convenient.

You can literally walk from your room straight into the mall.

    It is also:

    • Near the airport
    • Near Tung Chung Station
    • Convenient for airport transfers
    • Great for last-minute shopping

For shoppers, this location is hard to beat.

And Of Course… Bakehouse Egg Tarts

No Hong Kong trip is complete without a Bakehouse egg tart.

Thankfully, there is a Bakehouse branch inside Citygate Outlets.

Before heading to the airport, I made sure to grab a box of their famous sourdough egg tarts.

Still one of my favorite treats in Hong Kong.

If it’s your first time visiting, I highly recommend trying one.

Is Shopping in Hong Kong Worth It?

    For me, absolutely.

I love that Hong Kong offers a mix of:

    • Disney merchandise
    • Outlet shopping
    • Luxury brands
    • Local souvenirs
    • Food souvenirs

Whether you’re looking for exclusive collectibles or discounted branded items, there is something for every type of traveler.

  • DINING AT MADAM QUYEN IN HO CHI MINH CITY

DINING AT MADAM QUYEN IN HO CHI MINH CITY

During my 3rd day in Ho Chi Minh City, after visiting Bitexco Tower, I finally dropped by the famous Café Apartment ✨

Since it was already late afternoon, I decided to have an early dinner at Madam Quyen — one of the cafés located inside the building.

What I loved most was how cozy and relaxing the place felt after walking around the city all day. And the best part? It was only a short walk from where I stayed at Palace Saigon Hotel.

    ABOUT THE CAFÉ APARTMENT

The Café Apartment is one of the most popular spots in Ho Chi Minh City. It’s an old apartment building transformed into cafés, restaurants, boutiques, and creative spaces.

Every floor has something different to explore which makes it one of the most Instagram-worthy places in Saigon 🇻🇳

One interesting thing about visiting here is the elevator. Visitors usually pay a small fee to use it, although some cafés may reimburse the fee if you dine there.

    WHAT I ORDERED

    Rice Noodles with Grilled Pork

    Spring Rolls

    Egg Coffee (Must-Try!)

If it’s your first time in Vietnam, you definitely need to try egg coffee at least once ☕✨

Creamy, rich, and slightly sweet — one of the most unique coffees I’ve tried while traveling.

    Egg coffee

TRAVEL TIPS FOR VISITING THE CAFÉ APARTMENT

✔️ Bring cash in Vietnamese Dong
✔️ Wear comfortable shoes because there’s still a lot of walking
✔️ Explore the different floors of the building
✔️ Great stop after visiting Bitexco Tower or Nguyen Hue Walking Street

    WHERE I STAYED

    🏨 Palace Saigon Hotel

One thing I liked about staying here was the location. Many tourist spots including Bitexco Tower, Nguyen Hue Walking Street, and the Café Apartment were all within walking distance.

    Internet & eSIM Tips 📱

Before, I used to buy physical SIM cards whenever I traveled.

But because of the hassle of changing SIM cards, I now prefer using eSIMs.

There’s no need to remove your physical SIM card — just activate your eSIM a day before departure and make sure your phone is eSIM compatible.

💡 Night Markets Usually Prefer Cash
Most night markets in Bangkok usually accept cash only, so it’s helpful to always carry small amounts of Thai Baht.

    💡 Bangkok Traffic Is Heavy

Use the BTS whenever possible because traffic can get very bad especially during rush hour.

Hong Kong Disneyland’s 20th Anniversary Is About to End… ✨

Hong Kong Disneyland’s 20th Anniversary celebration is officially ending on June 7, and honestly… this is your final call to experience the magic before it’s gone.

I’ve already visited Hong Kong Disneyland 5 times — twice last January and 3 more times this May — and somehow every visit still felt magical in a completely different way.

Between the anniversary-exclusive entertainment, the Friendtastic! parade, the nighttime castle atmosphere, and the Magic Passport stamp hunt, this honestly became one of my favorite Disney celebrations ever.

If you’re planning to visit Hong Kong Disneyland before the celebration ends, here’s everything you need to know — including my personal tips, favorite experiences, food hacks, best photo spots, and things I wish I knew before visiting

    20th Anniversary Highlights

The 20th Anniversary celebration is filled with limited-time experiences around the resort including:

    • Friendtastic! — the largest-ever parade in Hong Kong Disneyland
    • Anniversary-only castle stage show
    • Grandest nighttime spectacular
    • Complimentary party photo opportunities
    • Anniversary-themed Eat-tertainment around the resort
    • Disney characters in anniversary outfits
    • Exclusive anniversary merchandise
    • Limited collectibles and souvenirs
    • Anniversary glitz and glam decorations around the park

Calling all Disney fans — this is your sign to experience the celebration before June 7.

Download the Hong Kong Disneyland App Before Your Visit

Before going to Hong Kong Disneyland, make sure to download the official Hong Kong Disneyland app because it honestly makes the entire experience so much easier.

    The app helps you:

    • Check show schedules
    • Monitor ride waiting times
    • See Disney character meetup schedules
    • Navigate using the mobile map
    • Find restaurant locations
    • Check parade timings

I personally kept checking the app throughout the day to decide whether to watch a show, line up for rides, or catch character appearances.

It also helps avoid unnecessary walking around the park.

My Favorite Part: The Anniversary Castle Show

    Hong Kong Disneyland Castle Show

One of my absolute favorite parts of the 20th Anniversary celebration is the anniversary castle stage show.

There’s just something emotional about standing in front of the Castle of Magical Dreams while the music, lights, projections, and performances all come together.

The atmosphere becomes even more magical at night.

Once the castle lights up and the music starts playing, the entire park feels different. Even after visiting Hong Kong Disneyland multiple times, it still gives me that magical Disney feeling every single visit.

The nighttime lighting around Main Street U.S.A. and the castle area also makes everything feel extra dreamy, especially for photos and videos.

If you love emotional Disney moments, beautiful visuals, and magical nighttime experiences, this is definitely something you shouldn’t skip.

    Friendtastic! Parade Tips

The Friendtastic! parade is honestly one of the best Disney parades I’ve watched.

The energy is incredible, the music is catchy, and seeing all the Disney characters pass by makes the entire experience feel so festive.

If you want a good viewing spot, I highly recommend going early because the parade route fills up very quickly.

Some guests already reserve spots long before the parade starts.

    Here are my parade tips:

    • Arrive early for better viewing
    • Bring a handheld fan
    • Sit somewhere shaded if possible
    • Prepare your camera before the floats arrive
    • Stay near corners for better character interactions

Honestly, even the excitement before the parade starts already adds to the atmosphere.

The Magic Passport Stamp Hunt Became One of My Favorite Souvenirs

One of the most fun things I did during the 20th Anniversary celebration was collecting stamps using the Magic Passport.

I bought mine for 129 HKD, and there are actually 2 versions available — so make sure to get the English version.

You can usually find it in almost every merchandise shop around the park.

Some stamps are automatic machines while others require you to stamp them manually yourself — and honestly, that makes it even more fun.

Each page shows you exactly where to find the stamps around the park, so it feels like a mini treasure hunt across Disneyland.

Instead of rushing through rides, I recommend collecting stamps naturally while exploring each land.

If the outdoor stamp cart is closed, don’t worry. You can simply go to the nearest merchandise shop to collect your stamp instead.

Once you complete all the stamps, head back to Main Street U.S.A. to claim your reward:
the limited 20th Anniversary Gold Medallion.

It honestly became one of my favorite Disney souvenirs ever.

Food Tips Inside Hong Kong Disneyland

Food lines inside Hong Kong Disneyland can get very long during peak meal hours, so planning ahead really helps.

One thing I learned after multiple visits is to buy meal vouchers in advance because it saves both time and money.

I also highly recommend eating before the actual lunch rush starts because restaurants become extremely crowded around noon.

    My usual strategy:

    • Early lunch before noon
    • Late snacks afterward
    • Bring a reusable water bottle
    • Buy drinks early
    • Use mobile ordering if available

Staying hydrated is especially important because you’ll be walking around the park all day.

Is the Early Entry Pass Worth It?

For me — yes, especially if it’s your first time visiting Hong Kong Disneyland.

The Early Entry Pass gives you extra time to enjoy selected attractions before regular guests enter the park.

    This means:

    • shorter ride lines,
    • better castle photos,
    • less stress,
    • and more rides before crowds arrive.

It’s especially useful if you want:

    • photos without crowds,
    • earlier Frozen access,
    • smoother itinerary planning,
    • or more relaxed mornings.

Honestly, it’s one of the best add-ons if you want to maximize your visit.

Best Photo Spots in Hong Kong Disneyland

Some of my favorite photo spots around the park include:

    • Castle of Magical Dreams
    • Main Street U.S.A.
    • World of Frozen
    • Parade route area
    • Mystic Manor surroundings
    • Anniversary decorations
    • Nighttime castle lighting

Golden hour before sunset is honestly one of the best times for photos around the castle area.

    Final Thoughts

Even after visiting Hong Kong Disneyland 5 times, the 20th Anniversary celebration still felt magical every single visit.

Between the castle show, Friendtastic! parade, nighttime atmosphere, anniversary-exclusive experiences, and the Magic Passport stamp hunt, this honestly became one of my favorite Disney experiences ever.

If you’ve been thinking about going, this is your sign before the celebration officially ends on June 7. ✨

Hong Kong Day 1 officially starts ✈️🇭🇰

This trip is actually my second Hong Kong trip for the year — my first visit was last January, and I honestly missed the city so much that I had to come back again ✨

For this trip, I flew from Clark International Airport to Hong Kong via Hong Kong Express and spent my first day exploring Tsim Sha Tsui, trying One Dim Sum, walking along Nathan Road, and ending the night with the beautiful Victoria Harbour skyline views.

After letting the rain pass, I walked through Nathan Road towards Victoria Harbour.

Seeing the Hong Kong skyline at night honestly never gets old ✨

    Passing By K11 MUSEA

Before ending the night, I also passed by K11 MUSEA which is located near Victoria Harbour.

Ending the Night with Egg Waffles

To end Day 1, I grabbed a chocolate egg waffle before heading back to the hotel 🍫🧇
